ABOUT

2004-2005. Commissioned by Mark Porter at The Guardian. Designed with Paul Barnes. Will be available for licensing from Commercial Type in the near future.

The text version of the Sans is slightly condensed, because it will most likely end up being used for sidebars, captions, and other limited space situations.

Putting flatter sides on round bowls made the face feel more natural in this narrower proportion, and adding a few details reminiscent of Johnston's London Underground typeface made it less bland and more appealing to Mark. The tailed 'l' also makes words like "Ilford" and "Ilchester" more legible.

Roman and Bold weights with italics, plus Roman Small Caps, in 4 grades; Medium and Black with italics, plus Medium Small Caps.
