ABOUT

2003. Designed with Conor Mangat based on News Gothic by Morris Fuller Benton (Sans) and Boehringer Serif by Ole Schäfer, based on Concorde Nova by Günter Garhard Lange (Serif). Advised by Erik Spiekermann. Commissioned by MetaDesign for Symantec Corporation. Not available for licensing.

This set of typefaces is the the foundation of a new corporate identity for the Symantec Corporation. The Sans is an attempt to make News Gothic a little cooler and fresher without scaring the client. The Serif is a bizarre collision between Concorde Nova (which is what Erik and Conor wanted) and Minion (which is what the client was used to) that worked out a lot better than any of us imagined it would.
